Choosing and Caring for Diopside

With green Diopside, look at colour and natural variation.

Some pieces may be lighter or more yellow-green, while others can be deeper and richer. Differences between individual chips or stones are normal.

Diopside has a Mohs hardness of approximately 5.5–6.5, so it deserves a little more care than harder Quartz-family stones.

Avoid hard knocks, abrasive cleaning and storing polished Diopside where it repeatedly rubs against harder gemstones.

For jewellery, removing it before swimming, showering or using household cleaning products will help protect both the stone and the rest of the piece.
