In Ancient Egypt black cats were representations of the goddess Bastet. She was the Goddess of protection, pleaure and bringer of good health. Protector of woman, households, fertility and childbirth. She was popuar among both men and woman since every man has a daughter, wife or mother who benefitted from her protection. She had the head of a cat and a slender female body.
